Failure Mode Library

Build a searchable, reusable library of failure modes organized by manufacturing process type.

Library Structure

The failure mode library is organized by manufacturing process type: stamping, injection molding, CNC machining, assembly, welding, painting/coating, heat treatment, casting, forging, additive manufacturing, PCB assembly, wire harness, and plating/surface treatment. Each category has sub-categories (e.g., Welding → spot welding, MIG/MAG, TIG, laser welding, friction stir).

Each library entry contains: failure mode description, typical effects (local, next-higher, end-user), typical causes, typical prevention controls, typical detection controls, industry source (AIAG examples, company experience, AI-suggested), and applicable standards.

A curated starter library with 500+ failure modes across common manufacturing processes is available to all tiers.

Personal and Organizational Libraries

**Professional tier**: Personal library of failure modes you’ve created or accepted, searchable and reusable across your FMEAs.

**Team tier**: Shared organizational library with admin-curated ‘approved’ entries and user-contributed ‘draft’ entries pending review. Usage tracking shows how many times each failure mode has been used across the organization’s FMEAs, building confidence in commonly-seen failure modes.

When creating a new FMEA, browse the library by process type and import relevant failure modes directly. Imported entries serve as starting points that the team customizes for the specific application.
