Trade-Specific Takeoffs
How each trade’s takeoff calculator works — inputs, outputs, and trade-specific features.
Concrete
Handles seven pour shapes: rectangular slabs, circular slabs, continuous footings, pad footings, round and square columns, walls, stairs, and post holes. Add any combination to a project for a combined cubic yard total.
Output: cubic yards (rounded to 0.25 CY), truck loads, bag equivalents. Warns on short load orders under 5 CY. Waste defaults: 5% simple slabs, 10% footings/columns, 15% stairs.
Drywall
Multi-room sheet count with real opening deductions. Add doors and windows with preset sizes (standard door 20 SF, window 12 SF, sliding glass 40 SF) or custom dimensions. Shows both with-deduction and without-deduction totals.
Full ancillary material list: joint compound (gallons + bucket size), paper tape (rolls), screws (count + boxes), corner bead (pieces), and PVA primer. Panel sizes: 4×8, 4×10, 4×12. Thickness: 1/2″ walls, 5/8″ ceilings and fire-rated.
Flooring
Multi-room, multi-material with pattern-specific waste factors: 10% straight, 15% diagonal, 15–20% herringbone. Materials: hardwood, laminate, vinyl plank, ceramic/porcelain tile, natural stone, carpet.
Ancillary materials per type: underlayment, thinset, grout, spacers, backer board, transitions, carpet pad, tack strips.
Rebar
Bar sizes #3 through #11 with ASTM A615 weight per foot. Layout patterns: grid (two-way mat), one-way, perimeter, column ties. Spacing input per direction.
ACI 318 concrete cover deductions based on exposure condition. Automatic lap splice calculation when bar runs exceed stock length (20 ft for #3–#5, 40 ft for #6–#11). Output: bar count, linear feet, pounds, and tons.
Retaining Walls
Segmental block walls: block count, cap blocks, compacted gravel base, drainage backfill, geogrid reinforcement layers (for walls over 3 ft), perforated drain pipe, and landscape adhesive. Output in blocks, cubic yards, tons, and square feet.
