Psychrometric Analysis
How to use the interactive psychrometric chart for air process design and coil selection.
Interactive Chart
Plot air states by entering any two properties (dry-bulb + RH, dry-bulb + wet-bulb, dry-bulb + humidity ratio, or enthalpy + humidity ratio). The chart displays all derived properties: dry-bulb, wet-bulb, dew point, relative humidity, humidity ratio, enthalpy, and specific volume.
The chart operates at your project's elevation — barometric pressure is automatically adjusted for locations above sea level.
Air Process Simulation
Simulate common HVAC processes: sensible heating, sensible cooling, cooling with dehumidification, humidification (steam and evaporative), and air mixing. Each process traces a path on the chart showing the state change.
For cooling with dehumidification, enter the coil's Apparatus Dew Point (ADP) and bypass factor to see the leaving air condition. The process line and SHR are displayed.
Coil Analysis
The coil analysis tool calculates the required ADP and bypass factor for a given entering and leaving air condition. Enter the room condition, the required supply air temperature, and the coil configuration to determine whether a standard DX coil can achieve the required dehumidification.
The SHR line is displayed on the chart showing the required process slope. If the building SHR is lower than the coil SHR, the analysis recommends solutions: deeper coil (lower BF), lower airflow, or a dedicated dehumidification stage.
